Fireworks and fried chicken | Amigos 2011: Azuero, Panama

I just had my first dinner in my new home for two weeks.  We are now the happy habitants of a hostel in central Chitre. Upon our arrival this afternoon we were greeted with deafening noise and cheering as the baseball team from Los Santos held a procession in the street in front of us.  All of the local inhabitants came out to cheer and music blaring and honking were abundant.  We skirted the celebrations and went on a tour of Chitre, sweating from every gland (it is HOTTTT here).

After happily finalizing arrangements for our staff house, we grabbed dinner and headed to the roof of our new abode.  I was so happy to be sitting with my new partner this summer, chatting, eating fried chicken, and watching fireworks as the baseball fans continued their jubilant celebrations.

This summer of AMIGOS now feels as though it has officially started.  I am excited.

We had a productive day in Panama City yesterday and a very fun dinner with our friends from Panama Verde.

Tomorrow we will set up house and starting Monday, we are in many meetings with partner agency contacts and time will fly!

Vamos pues!!!
